Mauku v3.0 Official Release Party on Jaiku!
Mauku is one of my favorite apps on the Nokia Internet Tablets. I wrote about it here, now that it’s been ported to Chinook, you’ll be able to load it up as soon as the new OS is out. You can still use it on both the 770 and N800, though. Mauku lets you keep track of your Jaiku feed on the tablet, and features kinetic scrolling as well as easy management of different threads.
I’ve been testing Mauku on my N800 for a while as it has been through several revisions over the past month. V3.0 is a huge milestone because it marks the first time that the developer is making the source code public, as well. The official availability is set for Thursday at 4:00pm GMT, and all are invited to join the #mauku channel on Jaiku!
Jaiku is a microblogging tool and lifestream aggregation tool. It allows you to subscribe to your contacts’ feeds, including Flickr, blogs, Last.FM, and whatever else they want to include. You can also unsubscribe from specific feeds. The best part, in my opinion, is that people can comment on threads, making it easy to carry on a conversation and get help with various topics, without clouding up the main channel.
You can find me on Jaiku as rcadden. Also, since Google purchased Jaiku recently, they have closed registration. However, I have a few invites that I can give out to the first few people to leave a comment and request them. See you tomorrow on Jaiku!

Hi Ricky,
I’m enjoying your blogs and while I don’t use or even know about some of the things you’re writing about like Jaiku or some of that, I’m hoping to try some of it as time allows. Please make me an invite to your micro thing if you can. Thanks
Jeff.
This is an interesting application and, while I probably wouldn’t have the discipline to keep it up-to-date (I can’t even keep my ToDo/Appointments up-to-date!) I’m glad to see yet another app that complements the mobile NIT paradigm.
Just can’t see why this app is a ‘pearl’ on maemo when Jaiku has stopped allowing new sign-ups. Can’t even use it…
