Gizmo Project Tablet-to-PC Video Calling
Something that’s been missing from the Internet Tablets since they added the video calling cam on the N800 is tablet-to-pc calling. There was a beta project for Gtalk, but it was terrible and not really user friendly at all. Since then, Gizmo Project, a SIP client that’s recently been ported to the Internet Tablets, has added video calling to the latest desktop beta, as well as the new version loaded into OS2008.
I decided to give this a go, and despite the obvious quality issues, it worked surprisingly well. Note also that I performed this test with both devices on the same WiFi network, which I’ve heard can cause some problems. I’ll be testing this out next week, however, when I am in Amsterdam for NokiaWorld and my fiance is here in Texas. Hopefully this video gives you an idea of how easy it is to setup. As soon as Gizmo adds Jabber support, I’ll likely be using it as my IM client on my desktop, mobile, and tablet.
What do you think? Is this something you would use?

Click to play isn’t working here..
I would most definitely use this. I’m gonna check it out right now.
How about video calling N800N95?
Can you post the video in Ogg Theora ? Click to play doesn’t work for me (Ubuntu + Firefox).
