OS2008 Official On N800
Just released today is the new update for OS2008 for the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. Downloads are disgustingly slow, but there’s already a torrent: http://www.mininova.org/tor/1051742 and I’ll be seeding it over the next few days, to help get those speeds up so you guys can enjoy the new OS.
I’ve only had it on my N800 for twenty minutes thus far, but there are 2 new themes that look quite nice, and some graphical improvements here and there. I was able to easily install Skype, but it wouldn’t connect, so we’ll have to tinker with that some more.
Other things I’ve noticed is that it’s still really tricky to get the fingerboard to open when you touch the screen. With OS2007, I actually had trouble getting the stylus keyboard, and now that’s switched. I want the fingerboard back. Of course, with the cursor in any text box, pressing the center button on the d-pad will always bring up the fingerboard, perhaps for usability purposes that’s been made more prevalent, I don’t know.
Anyways, I’ll update this post as I get more testing done.
**Update** Not all repositories are working yet, I still can’t get Python to install. However, Thoughtfix over at Tabletblog.com has done a better walkthrough/review than I ever could, so here’s the link for that, complete with plenty of screenshots.

My understanding is this is still beta, what’s up?
