Vagalume Updated to V.05, New Look

VagalumeVagalume is by far one of the greatest applications for the Nokia Internet Tablets. This lightweight application plugs into your Last.FM account (get one here for free) and allows you to stream all sorts of great music. Once you enter your Last.FM details in, Vagalume will connect and allow you to pull up your personalized radio stations, as well as those of your neighbors. You can create your own internet radio stations either using the ‘Music tagged…’ menu or the ‘Artists similar to…’ The latter is my personal favorite. If I know the type of music I’m interested in, I can easily type in the artist’s name and get a custom station within seconds.

The user interface of Vagalume is really easy, consisting of a large album art display and equally large playback buttons. There is also a row of buttons which allow you to customize the station as it is playing. You can mark a song as ‘loved’, send the track to a friend as a recommendation, view/edit the track’s tags, or ban it from your future stations.

There is also a new feature for OS2008 users in the form of a Status Bar Plugin. This feature is enabled by default, and puts a small but very useful icon in the status bar. When Vagalume is playing in the background, you can tap this icon to bring up a submenu showing the current Artist, Track, and Album, and also control the music with play, skip, love, and ban buttons. You can even use this small button to bring Vagalume’s main window back into view.

If you’re a big Last.FM user, or even if you just like to listen to music, Vagalume is a must-have on your Internet Tablet to quickly and easily get a great selection of music anywhere.
